Isaura — one of Italo Calvino's imagined cities, defined by hidden depths beneath a deceptively still surface — lends its name to this fine bone-china dinner plate from Seletti's Hybrid collection. Designed by CTRLZAK Studio, the Isaura places Eastern chinoiserie and European heraldry face to face on a single porcelain canvas, separated by a vivid colour seam that refuses to reconcile the two traditions.
A dinner plate is the widest stage in any place setting, and CTRLZAK has used the space deliberately. One half carries scrolling peonies, cloud-bands, and the geometric border friezes of Chinese export ware; the other answers with baroque cartouches and neoclassical medallions. The contrasting bar between them is not a compromise — it is the entire point. Italian designer porcelain for buyers who want their table to carry a position, not just a pattern.
In Dubai's most design-literate homes and hospitality spaces, this East–West collision lands with particular force. Pair with a contrasting Hybrid soup plate and dessert plate — different named cities, different motif pairings — for a deliberately non-matching contemporary dinner service.
