Mia Nero Lamp - Charlottina

Mia Nero holds a black column broken once by red. A square base and a large sphere, both cast in Nero pieno — solid, opaque black — carry the stack from the floor; above them a large faceted cube in Rosso interrupts the line, and a medium black cube closes it again before the shade. One block of color against a run of black is the whole argument.

Each piece — base, sphere, the two faceted cubes, the shade — is separately hand-cast in a small Roman workshop and threaded onto one rod, and nothing about the sequence is permanent: change the red cube for another color and the lamp reads entirely differently. That openness, not any single silhouette, is what a Charlottina lamp is actually selling.

On a console or entrance table it reads first as object — dense black base and sphere, a faceted red interruption, soft black cotton above — before it becomes a light source at all. It suits a majlis corner or a study desk equally well, somewhere it will be seen as often switched off as on, and it carries a design-led gift or a considered interior refresh without needing company nearby.
