Midi Horse Head – Optical

The Midi Horse Head translates the Optical collection's chess-piece language into a mid-scale polyresin sculpture — sized to work as a vignette accent alongside a larger anchor piece, or to hold its own on a desk or console.

Designed at Casa Baci in Milan, Optical applies a rigorous geometric grid to one of chess's most recognisable silhouettes. On a flat surface, op-art patterns behave predictably. On the curved planes of a horse head, the black-and-white geometry bends, shifts, and reads differently from every angle — producing something closer to Bridget Riley than a chessboard. The effect rewards closer attention, revealing new depth each time.

For Dubai's design-forward homes and executive offices, the Midi finds its natural role as the linking piece: bold enough to command space, scaled right to place in multiples. Pair two in contrasting finishes as a chess-piece dialogue, or build a three-tier composition with the Magnum and Mini — the Midi as the piece that gives the whole arrangement its rhythm.
