The Kintsugi Coffee Cup & Saucer — designed by Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba for Seletti — brings the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi into the most intimate ritual of the day. Fine white porcelain traced with 24kt gold seams maps an imagined history of fracture and repair: the cup presents itself as rescued, precious, singular.
The premise is philosophical. In the original Japanese craft, broken vessels are mended with gold lacquer so the seam becomes the most visible — the most valued — part of the object. Seletti applies this idea to porcelain fired whole, then embellished with genuine 24kt gold fault lines. No two Kintsugi pieces share the same vein topology; this cup's particular gold map belongs to it alone.
In Dubai, where the coffee service sets the tone before a word is exchanged, a cup this considered carries presence.
