Description

Laila, Lorenzo, Lucia — the letter L arrives at the Sicilian table with bold, sun-warmed presence. This antistain cotton placemat from Baci Milano's Ortigia collection carries an ornate Baroque monogram in vivid pop-art colour: a personal signature beneath every plate, framing every meal with unmistakable Italian character.

Ortigia takes its name from the ancient island at the heart of Syracuse, where Greek ruins sit beneath Baroque cathedrals and Majolica ceramics colour the marketplaces. For a placemat, this story lives at the edge of the plate — the ornate letterform as a table anchor, the Mediterranean palette doing its work before the first dish is served. It is the detail a considered host reaches for.

Dubai villa dining rooms and shaded garden terraces reward this kind of deliberate table-setting. The antistain cotton stands up to a generous spread, making this placemat equally at home for a weekday family dinner or an evening gathering with guests.

Pair with the Ortigia Letter L mug and mini tray for a monogrammed Italian table gift with genuine Sicilian character.

Care & Use

Woven cotton textile, often finished to help everyday food and wine spills lift more easily. It is laundered as fabric: machine-wash at 30°C maximum, line-dry or lay flat, and iron at medium temperature while slightly damp.

Care: Machine-wash on a gentle cycle with mild, non-bleach detergent, keeping similar colours together; treat spills promptly before they set.

Avoid: Bleach, which strips the finish and colour; high-heat tumble-drying and dry-cleaning solvents, which weaken the weave; and leaving food or wine stains to dry in.

Suitable for: Everyday family dining, formal table dressing and shaded terrace settings.

Ortigia

Ortigia is named for the island heart of Syracuse — Baroque architecture, Greek ruins and market colour distilled into tableware. Majolica-bright oranges, blues and yellows carry Sicilian symbols and ornate Baroque letterforms across melamine dinner sets, antistain cotton linens and porcelain — including monogram mugs and mini trays lettered A to V for personalised gifting.
