Care & Use
Fine vitrified porcelain with a hard, glazed, food-safe surface that resists staining and odour. Plain, undecorated pieces tolerate everyday use and the microwave, but any piece finished with 24 kt gold, platinum or metallic detailing must never be microwaved, as the metal sparks and the decoration can craze or crack. Not suited to the oven or freezer, and it can crack under sudden thermal shock.
Care: Hand-wash any gold-, platinum- or metallic-trimmed or hand-painted piece in warm water with mild soap and a soft sponge, drying immediately to protect the gilding. Plain pieces may go on a gentle or top-rack dishwasher cycle with a mild detergent. Wash promptly after use and avoid leaving acidic or strongly coloured foods in prolonged contact.
Avoid: Microwaving any gold or metallic-decorated piece; the oven, freezer and tumble dryer; sudden temperature changes such as pouring boiling liquid into a cold piece; abrasive pads, steel wool, scouring powder and undiluted bleach, which scratch the glaze and erode decoration; and knocks or drops, since porcelain can chip and break.
Suitable for: Formal and everyday dining, tea and coffee service, hosting and considered table settings, and gifting.
